Where Wonder Begins: Designing Inspiring ECE Math & Science Classroom Learning Centers (Muncie)

  • Ivy Tech Fisher Building 345 South High Street Muncie, IN, 47305 United States (map)

This training explores how intentional, play-based math and science experiences support young children's cognitive development, inquiry, language, and problem-solving skills. Participants will examine the characteristics of developmentally appropriate math and science learning centers, evaluate classroom environments using best practices, and learn how thoughtfully designed centers encourage exploration, discovery, and differentiated learning for all children.

Participants will also develop strategies for extending children's thinking through intentional teaching practices, including open-ended questioning, mathematical and scientific vocabulary, observation, and scaffolding. By the end of the course, participants will design engaging math and science learning centers and create an action plan to enhance a classroom environment through reflective practice, intentional planning, and ongoing observation of children's learning.  This is a hands-on training and participants will receive related instructional materials to take back to use in their own educational environments.

Instructors: Emma Dragoo and Austin Scales
