HERO's Story Time: Developing Assets and Skills in Early Learners

  • Muncie BY5 108 S Walnut St, Suite 306 Muncie, IN 47305 (map)

HERO’S Story Time is a prevention-focused reading program designed to empower young children with the social-emotional assets they need to succeed in school and in life. HERO’S—Helping Every Child Reach Optimum Success—uses carefully selected storybooks and hands-on activities grounded in the Search Institute’s Developmental Assets to support empathy, self-regulation, self-esteem, conflict resolution, and positive relationships for children ages 3–5.

In this interactive, in-person session, early childhood providers will learn how to implement the HERO’S Story Time model in their classrooms and extend learning through meaningful family engagement strategies. Participants will explore how stories, creative activities, and weekly family newsletters work together to reinforce social-emotional learning throughout the day and at home—supporting kindergarten readiness and protective factors that reduce future high-risk behaviors.

This 90-minute session is designed for childcare providers working with preschool-aged children (ages 3-5). Every participant will leave with an 8-book HERO’S Story Time set for their classroom.

Limited scholarship opportunities are available for non-PLI members thanks to generous funding from our partner ECI TRAC. Use the code “ECITRAC” at checkout to access this training at no cost if needed.
