Initiating Potential

As the leading organization for early childhood awareness in Muncie and Delaware County, we strive to improve opportunities for children aged 0–5 to reach their full developmental potential. This is done through a variety of task force, volunteer, and partnered efforts. Learn more about each of BY5’s unique initiatives geared toward early childhood success.

Little Free Library

BY5 directly supports a number of Little Free Libraries throughout Delaware County. These free “take one, leave one” library systems promote literacy of all ages throughout the community.

Little Learners Passport

Created by BY5’s Early Learning Environment Task Force, the Little Learners Passport is designed to connect young families with the community through 100 brain-building activities. After completing the passport, a child is deemed Kindergarten-ready.

Diaper Bank of Delaware County

BY5’s Diaper Bank Task Force created a county-wide system of diaper banks to provide free diapering supplies for families in need. Since 2018, these diaper banks have distributed more than 18,000 free diapers.

On My Way Pre-K

BY5 is Delaware County’s lead agency for On My Way Pre-K, a state-wide program that provides free pre-school to eligible 4-year-olds. Through On My Way Pre-K, BY5 has provided 95 Delaware County kids with free pre-school.
